Important Administration Reminders

To all involved in their Counties administration including, but not limited to, Captains, Fixture Secretaries, Match Managers, Scorers.

Several weeks into the season and there are a few common matters that keep occurring and warrant bringing to your attention.

This is therefore a reminder of the basics which should make your role and that of the Management Committees and Championship Organisers roles easier.

  1. Venues on Play-Cricket to include the full address and CORRECT postcode. When advising opposition of venue confirm start time and if teas are available or not.
  2. Team selected to be put on Play-Cricket prior to the match, this helps you as it will flag up any un-registered players.
  3. Advise the away County at least 24 hours before a match if a defibrillator is not available. If available the defibrillator should be visible and accessible. If not at the venue advise where the closest defibrillator is to the club that is hosting the fixture.
  4. Supply of used balls to be readily available in case of lost balls.
  5. Catch / Run Out names to be entered, to avoid “Unsure” being recorded and a need for the Organiser to make further enquiries.
  6. In accordance with Playing regulation 2.5, Duckworth, Lewis, Stern STANDARD system applies and to be available. All Counties must use the PCS D/L calculator details all as posted on the website.
  7. In accordance with Competition rule 5.8 and prior to commencement of play team Captains must exchange signed team sheets detailing the names of their team selection verifying that the team selected satisfies the criteria in Rule 4 and 5. Team sheets shall be given to the umpires for their record. Team sheets are available to download from the website.
  8. The completed result form should be e-mailed by 12 noon the day after the match to Derrick Sheldon at [email protected] . If a match was agreed to be played with a reduced number of overs make a note on the result form.
  9. The scorecard must be completed on Play Cricket by the Home Team within 72 hours of the match completing.  (A 2-point penalty will apply if either deadline is breached).

England Selection 60+ and 70+

Sporta StoneHill

The place of England 60+ and 70+ teams has always been to provide a pinnacle for Senior
cricketers to aspire to. Increasing opportunities to represent England mean that selection procedures
should be transparent and clear and where possible consistent and continuous.
The International Committee has a well established process involving the County representatives to
nominate players deemed worthy of consideration.
Both 60+and 70+ age groups adopt similar procedures. The Manager and Captain will invite
various personnel to comprise a Selection panel
Following a series of “filterings”, using data and conversations, these Selection panels will organise
trial matches .
The final team selections are then the responsibility of the Manager and the Captain, having taken
soundings from their appointed selectors. The selectors will aim for agreement, but in the very rare
instances where this is not possible, then the Captain has the final decision.
Update on player bans.
Under a previous International Committee, players who had played for a Rest of the World side
were ,for well documented reasons, banned for 2 years from representing any England side.
Recent communications and minuted reassurances with IMC and emails from RoW have resulted in
the current IC to reconsider the situation and remove the ban.
This is subject to the following conditions being enforced;
1.Should a non international side (eg RoW) be invited to a future World Cup that side comprise of
players from Emerging nations only (non IMC members)
2.Such players should be bona fida citizens of that country, and meet IMC qualification regulations.
3.In other IMC sanctioned events the non international side should not use the RoW title and will
not have any of their statistics officially recorded.
Should any of these caveats not be kept the IC reserves the right to revisit its player ban policy.

Player Welfare

Our Sponsors

Sporta StoneHill

The National Championship is aware of the importance of and need to secure the welfare of all participants.Welfare in this instance is regarded in its widest sense to include both physical and mental well being.

The responsibility in the first instance rests with the Countys and each County should have a nominated Welfare Officer (or equivalent) to whom the player(s) should be first referred.

The National Championship can offer Counties support and guidance should more be required, but at this stage does not have a designated Welfare Officer.

Further work is being done by the National Championship to see how Counties and players can be fully supported.
