To all involved in their Counties administration including, but not limited to, Captains, Fixture Secretaries, Match Managers, Scorers.
Several weeks into the season and there are a few common matters that keep occurring and warrant bringing to your attention.
This is therefore a reminder of the basics which should make your role and that of the Management Committees and Championship Organisers roles easier.
The place of England 60+ and 70+ teams has always been to provide a pinnacle for Senior
cricketers to aspire to. Increasing opportunities to represent England mean that selection procedures
should be transparent and clear and where possible consistent and continuous.
The International Committee has a well established process involving the County representatives to
nominate players deemed worthy of consideration.
Both 60+and 70+ age groups adopt similar procedures. The Manager and Captain will invite
various personnel to comprise a Selection panel
Following a series of “filterings”, using data and conversations, these Selection panels will organise
trial matches .
The final team selections are then the responsibility of the Manager and the Captain, having taken
soundings from their appointed selectors. The selectors will aim for agreement, but in the very rare
instances where this is not possible, then the Captain has the final decision.
Update on player bans.
Under a previous International Committee, players who had played for a Rest of the World side
were ,for well documented reasons, banned for 2 years from representing any England side.
Recent communications and minuted reassurances with IMC and emails from RoW have resulted in
the current IC to reconsider the situation and remove the ban.
This is subject to the following conditions being enforced;
1.Should a non international side (eg RoW) be invited to a future World Cup that side comprise of
players from Emerging nations only (non IMC members)
2.Such players should be bona fida citizens of that country, and meet IMC qualification regulations.
3.In other IMC sanctioned events the non international side should not use the RoW title and will
not have any of their statistics officially recorded.
Should any of these caveats not be kept the IC reserves the right to revisit its player ban policy.

The National Championship is aware of the importance of and need to secure the welfare of all participants.Welfare in this instance is regarded in its widest sense to include both physical and mental well being.
The responsibility in the first instance rests with the Countys and each County should have a nominated Welfare Officer (or equivalent) to whom the player(s) should be first referred.
The National Championship can offer Counties support and guidance should more be required, but at this stage does not have a designated Welfare Officer.
Further work is being done by the National Championship to see how Counties and players can be fully supported.
